GB Williams - Locked In_cover_high res (2)Talk about surprises! When I left former policeman-cum-convicted murderer Charlie Bell, in Locked Up, the debut crime thriller from GB Williams, he was no longer behind bars and starting to re-build his life.

Not quite sure what I expected would happen next. But I certainly didn’t think he’d become involved in a bank heist.

Nor, I suspect, did prison warder Ariadne Teddington, who became involved with Charlie when she recruited him to help her investigate a prison killing.

So you can imagine her surprise when she gets caught up in a bank robbery and recognises one of the gang members…

But that’s the exciting opening to Locked In, the second in the Bell and Teddington trilogy.

Pity poor Ariadne, she’d been having a bad day and then she finds herself staring down the barrel of a gun.

Stuck in a bank robbery turned hostage situation, Ariadne keeps her head down and her mouth shut; because if there is one thing criminals hate more than the police it’s prison guards.

GB Wiiliams, who was shortlisted for the 2014 CWA Margery Allingham short story competition.

Trapped with a child, a policeman, and a robber on the edge, Ariadne desperately searches for a way out for them.

Can they all escape unharmed?

And when everyone is locked in, will anyone get out alive?

This is another well written, tension-packed thriller from Williams, with enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing right to the closing pages.

But will there be a happy ending for Ariadne and Charlie?

Who knows? Williams isn’t telling at least not until the final book in the trilogy Locked Down, which will be published in September 2018.

Can’t wait to find out.
