Audrey Davis, The Haunting Of Hattie Hastings: Part Two

Hattie Hastings 2It’s appropriate that the blurb for The Haunting of Hattie Hastings: Part Two comes with a warning: Cliffhangar ending.

Nevertheless, I let out a silent scream when I reached the last page…’Noooooooooooooo’.

Because I really, really, really want to know what happens next to Hattie and co.

NOW!

Thank heavens the final instalment in this delightful trio of novellas by Audrey Davis is due out May/June.

Just in time for the summer holidays and a satisfying sunny afternoon read on the beach.

Because Hattie Hastings is a sunshine read albeit with a slightly bonkers plot – dead Continue reading →

Sarah HardyMy name and website link: Hi, I’m Sarah, I’m based in Leeds and I blog at https://bytheletterbookreviews.com/. I read a variety of genres but my firm favourites are crime/psychological thrillers. I mainly post reviews but also do the occasional Q&A as well as guest posts. You can also follow me on Twitter @sarahhardy681 and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Bytheletterbookreviews/

I started blogging in April 2015. I love reading and after joining some online Facebook book groups discovered bloggers – and how important reviews are to authors. I also realised there were many writers whose books you, sadly, don’t see in the shops and I wanted to help shout about them. There are so many great authors Continue reading →

Fighting Monsters, Rebecca Bradley

Fighting MonstersFingers crossed we haven’t seen the last of DI Hannah Robbins, who leads the Nottingham-based East Midlands Special Operations Unit, investigating serious crimes across county borders.

Because, though she’s definitely a flawed cop, struggling to accept the new recruit who’s stepped into the shoes of a young protégé killed in the line of duty, she’s also a meticulous and dedicated one.

And it would be a pity if Fighting Monsters by Rebecca Continue reading →

Review: Ravens Gathering – genre busting debut from Graeme Cumming keeps the pages turning

Graeme Cumming, John Wyndham, Ravens Gathering

Ravens GatheringIt’s very hard to pigeonhole Ravens Gathering, the debut novel from Graeme Cumming.

Part return of the prodigal son, part murder mystery/crime thriller and part something more akin to sci-fi than anything else.

Certainly not the other world fantasy suggested by the title – although there were elements of other worldness too.

Such a mixed bag shouldn’t work – surely it’s against the rules to blend genres so thoroughly? Continue reading →

A Falling Friend, A Forsaken Friend, Lakewater Press

A Forsaken FriendEver wondered what tempestuous diva Teri Meyer, the naughty girl of our Friends trilogy carries in her handbag?

It’s not what you’d expect.

Teri may have a penchant for designer labels but the bottom of her bag is something else altogether…

You can find out more by visiting Lakewater Press.

For the next seven days they’ll be sharing exclusive extracts from A Forsaken Friend, the second novel in the Friends series, which opened in 2016 with A Falling Friend.

Book one was originally intended as a standalone novel but so many readers wanted to know what happened next that we decided to find out.

Published on March 21, A Forsaken Friend is character-driven contemporary women’s fiction, more diva lit than chick lit, and follows the lives of best friends Teri Meyer and Lee Harper as they navigate the ups-and-downs of their friendship whilst also juggling men, careers and family. Andrew Mackay, Vicky and Lizzie's First Period

Vicky and Lizzie's First Period (Kindle Cover) (2)Did you enjoy Thursday’s witty extract from Andrew Mackay’s new novel Vicky and Lizzie’s First Period?

Mackay, who says his influences include John Cleese, Tom Sharpe and Michael Frayn, describes himself as a satirist who likes to expose the dark underbelly of modern life.

He likes to be a bit shocking sometimes – but promises he’ll also make readers laugh.

Here to whet your appetite for what promises to be a wickedly funny novel is a second extract from chapter one:

Vicky and Lizzie pushed through double doors and entered the sports hall concourse. They were a few minutes late. A congregation of one hundred anxious students lined the wall. They looked nervous as they waited to enter the sports hall to sit their exam. Continue reading →
